London moves rarely go wrong because of the distance. They go wrong because of a third floor flat with no lift, a van that cannot park outside, or a quote that left out something you assumed was covered. The eight points below set out what Super Man with a Van offers, what it charges and what to check before you book.

1. Hourly man and van rates are published
Paying by the hour suits a studio, a one bedroom flat, a few pieces of furniture or a single bulky item. Super Man with a Van’s man and van London service costs £55 an hour for one man and a Luton van, or £65 an hour for two men, with a two hour minimum. The firm says same day and weekend bookings are charged at the same rate, subject to availability. Its own rule of thumb is that two movers usually cost less than one for anything larger than a studio, because the job finishes sooner.
2. Full house moves get a fixed quote
Hourly pricing leaves you carrying the risk if a large move overruns. The firm’s house removals London service is priced differently: full house moves and long distance moves are quoted at a fixed price after a short survey, in person or by video. Crews of two to four movers handle these jobs. The firm’s guide times are two to four hours for a one bedroom flat, four to six for a two bedroom flat and six to nine for a three bedroom house, assuming everything is packed and the van can park outside.
3. Van size and crew are matched to the property
Super Man with a Van says its standard vehicle is a Luton van with a tail lift and 17 to 20 cubic metres of space, enough for a one or two bedroom flat in a single load. A three bedroom house needs two loads, and a 7.5 tonne truck can be hired in on request. Its crew guidance is one mover for single items and studios, two for one and two bedroom flats, three for a three bedroom house, and three or four movers with two vans for four bedrooms or more. Send a full inventory with photos or a video so the estimate is accurate.
4. Insurance up to £50,000 is included
The firm states that every booking includes goods in transit insurance up to £50,000 per move, from loading at the first address to unloading at the second, plus public liability insurance for accidental damage to either property. Many London blocks ask to see a mover’s insurance certificate before the crew can use the lift, and the firm says it will send one on request. Tell it about art, antiques or other high value items when you book so cover can be confirmed.
5. Furniture dismantling and reassembly cost nothing extra

Beds, wardrobes and dining tables are the items most likely to get stuck in London doorways and stairwells. Super Man with a Van says dismantling and reassembling them is included in its hourly rate, and it estimates 45 to 60 minutes on the day for a bed, a wardrobe and a table together. Its price list treats dismantling as an extra on long distance moves, so confirm the position if you are leaving London.
6. Packing and storage can be added
Packing is not part of the standard rate. The firm offers it as an optional extra for the whole property or for selected rooms, and says most customers choose partial packing, typically the kitchen and breakables. Boxes, wrap and tape can be supplied, and unpacking can be arranged in advance. Packing has no published price list, so ask for it to be itemised in your quote. Storage with collection and redelivery is also available and charged separately.
7. Stairs, parking and road charges are explained up front
Access decides how long a London move takes. Super Man with a Van prices stairs by time, not by a surcharge, and estimates that each floor without a lift adds 20 to 30 minutes to a two bedroom flat move. It says it can apply for a parking bay suspension on your behalf. Mileage is included, the firm says it never charges for ULEZ, and the Congestion Charge is passed on only when a move enters the central zone during charging hours.
8. It publishes what its customers actually paid
Super Man with a Van reports that across 1,418 man and van jobs it completed in London between October 2022 and September 2026, the average job cost £175. One bedroom homes averaged £189 and about three hours, two bedroom homes £245 and three bedroom homes £288. These figures come from the firm’s own completed moves, not the wider London market, and exclude parking fees and the Congestion Charge. Its website also shows a Trustpilot rating of 4.8 out of 5 from 191 reviews, so read a selection before deciding.
London moving questions, answered
How much does a man and van cost in London?
Super Man with a Van charges £55 an hour for one man and a Luton van and £65 an hour for two men, with a two hour minimum, so the lowest bill is £110. Across 1,418 of its London jobs completed by September 2026, the average man and van job cost £175.
Do I need a parking permit for a removal van in London?
You do not need a permit to drive a removal van in London. According to Super Man with a Van, you usually need a parking bay suspension if the van has to stand on a residents’ bay, a meter bay or yellow lines for longer than the loading allowance. London boroughs need between two and ten working days’ notice. The firm’s borough index puts the first day’s cost between £32.70 in Richmond and £536 in the City of London.
Do removal vans pay the Congestion Charge and ULEZ in London?
The London Congestion Charge has been £18 a day since 2 January 2026 and applies when a vehicle enters the central zone during charging hours. Super Man with a Van says it passes that charge on only when a move enters the zone, and that it never charges customers for ULEZ.
How far ahead should I book a removal in London?
Super Man with a Van suggests booking a single item or student room from the same day to 24 hours ahead, a one or two bedroom flat two to five days ahead, a three bedroom house one to two weeks ahead, and a four bedroom house or long distance move two to three weeks ahead.
Should I book a man and van or a full removal service?
The firm’s guidance is to choose a man and van for a studio, one bedroom or two bedroom move within London, and a full removal service for a four bedroom house, a long distance move or a move that needs packing, storage and a survey. For a three bedroom house either can work.

Before you book
Super Man with a Van is worth considering if you want published hourly rates for a small London move, or a fixed quote for a full household move with insurance and furniture dismantling included. As with any mover, compare it against at least two other quotes for the same inventory, ask for the quote in writing, and confirm availability for your date directly with the firm. Prices and terms are as shown on its website on 5 October 2026 and may change.
